  • VLC: Free and open source cross-platform multimedia player.

  • IrFanView: Fast, compact and innovative freeware (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer.

  • Inkscape: Free and open source vector graphics editor for GNU/Linux, Windows and MacOS X.

  • PDF24 Creator: Free PDF Creator & PDF Converter. Standalone and online tools avalable.

  • PDF-XChange Editor: The smallest, fastest and most feature-rich free PDF viewer/editor on the market. Best alternative to Adobe Reader.

  • PDF Blender: Free cross platform PDF merging tool that utilizes Ghostscript.

  • Notepad++: Notepad++ is a free (as in “free speech” and also as in “free beer”) source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages.

  • Octave: High-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. Free alternaive to Matlab.

Licensed software

  • WinEdt: Powerful and versatile all-purpose text editor for Windows with a strong predisposition towards the creation and compilation of LaTeX documents.

  • Power Archiver: Proprietary file archiver for Microsoft Windows that supports pretty much all archive and disk image formats
